SAMBA

Here is the first samba hand pattern of many more to come!! First practice playing this pattern with the right hand and left hand in unison. Play the right hand on the ride or a cowbell or bell of the ride, and play the left hand on the snare or as a cross-stick. After the pattern is comfortable put a samba kick drum pattern underneath it. One of many more to come is also listed below.

HAND PATTERN 1

After you become comfortable playing with the hands in unison, try playing the pattern with the right hand and with the left fill in all the missing eighth notes. This sounds burnin' !!!

FOR EXAMPLE

Make sure the right hand rhythm stands out by playing the left hand notes as ghost notes (played very quietly).

FOOT PATTERN 1

The top of the line is Left Foot Hi Hat and the bottom is Kick Drum.
